Why the name?

In his treatise Rhetoric, Aristotle identifies three modes of persuasion: logos (logic), ethos (ethics), and pathos (emotions). We believe the most important of these is the latter, which Aristotle defined as the “awakening of emotion in the audience so as to induce them to make the judgment desired.” While the concept of pathos is most easily recognized in political or persuasive speech, it is also prevalent in art and literature, academic writing and research, and marketing. Studies consistently show that emotions influence people’s information processing and decision-making in much more subtle and powerful ways than logical appeals. In this digital age, it is not enough to have a visually appealing marketing campaign; it is crucial to connect with audiences on an emotional level and help them feel involved and connected to your brand.

It is not enough to know one or even two of these points; unless we understand all three, we shall be unable to arouse emotion in anyone.

Our Name
As mentioned above, our name comes from one of Aristotle’s three modes of persuasion: pathos. Though all are important when trying to create a change in perception, human decisions are always made with emotions.

Our beginnings

For over thirty-five years, we at PATHOS have evolved to become a cornerstone of the South Florida marketing industry and beyond. Founded in 1990 by Gina Auditore Boner and Ann Savage, we began with a shared dream and an unyielding passion to tell the stories of brands. From a humble trailer to a respected name in the field, our journey is a testament to our people and perseverance.

Gina and Ann’s partnership was built on mutual respect, innovation, and a dedication to more. Their early success set the stage for us to flourish, earning recognition with over 600 awards and building a reputation for delivering outstanding work. Though Gina passed away in 1999, her legacy lives on through the vibrant and dynamic agency she helped to build.

Ann Savage, inspired by her late partner’s spirit, has led us with unwavering determination. Under her leadership, we continue to thrive, consistently prioritizing our clients and fostering long-term relationships. PATHOS is not just an agency; it’s a family united by a passion for creativity, a pursuit of excellence, and a commitment to the community.
